How to ship an electric bike (e-bike) on Biklo
Electric bikes can be safely shipped on Biklo, but the Li-ion battery requires a few more steps than a regular bike. If you follow the rules below, the sale and delivery will go smoothly and the shipment will remain fully insured.
Basic rule: the battery stays on the bike. The battery must remain mounted and locked in the frame during transport. Do not take it out or pack it separately. As long as it is fixed in the bike, the e-bike is shipped by road as a whole, safely and without additional formalities for you.
How to prepare the battery before shipping:
- Charge it below 30%. A partially discharged battery is safer to ship — don't ship it fully charged.
- Turn the battery off completely and make sure it can't be accidentally started.
- Remove the key (if the model has one) and keep it with you or ship it separately.
- Check the terminals and wiring — no loose wires or contacts exposed.
What you can't ship:
- Damaged batteries — swollen, cracked, corroded, leaking or overheated. These cannot be transported and the listing will be rejected.
- Batteries recalled by manufacturer.
- Batteries sold separately, without bike. We currently only accept frame-mounted e-bikes.
If your battery falls into any of these situations, please contact us before listing — we'll find a solution together.
Packaging, Insurance and Payment. Pack your bike carefully in a suitable and strong box (packing box provided by Biklo - coming soon). The transport is fully insured, from the time of pick-up to delivery. The money is kept safe by Biklo and released to you after the buyer receives and confirms the bike.
Delivery in Romania and other EU countries. E-bikes are delivered exclusively by road, both in Romania and to the other countries in the Biklo network. Because of this, international deliveries may take a few days longer than a regular bike — but your bike is safe and secure all the way.
