Dracula mtb 2015

The competition will start on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., from the Royal Court-Chindie Tower.

The route starts on a section of paved road through the city, then on DN 72, after which we enter Gura Văii, up to Casa Fierarului Dumitrescu, where the actual climb through the forest begins, culminating in a dirt road with a sloping slope, a road that takes us to the plateau behind Dealu Monastery. After an easy crossing of the plateau, where the hydration/orientation point is also located, we enter the forest in a NE direction, up to “La Rădăcini”, the steepest area of the route, with slippery sections and roots, where we recommend all competitors to avoid descending by bike in that place, for a length of approx. 25m.
After this passage, the descent continues, somewhat more slowly, until the entrance to the Gorgota pass, after which we turn sharply right, heading south up a steep slope that takes us to a saddle and then we practice descending on a cobblestone road that crosses another Gorgota pass. This finally takes us to the asphalt.

The route continues on asphalt, a short section, after which we enter a right climb on a cemented/paved road to Gorgota Monastery, a place for hydration/orientation. From this point we descend again through the village until we cross the Gorgota valley, over a bridge with iron sheets, and after a gentle climb we turn right, towards the north, and continue the climb on the paved road, eventually also dirt, until we exit into Viforata islet.
The road continues gently on the islaz in the first phase, after which we enter the forest and, after the confluence with the road coming from Viforata, we begin a climb on the well road approximately 500m long, after which we deviate from it and turn north, through the wild forest, without spectacular difficulties, in a NE direction, after which a steeper descent begins, where we recommend maximum attention!

As soon as we finish the descent, we turn sharply left, to the N, onto the cart road that takes us to the Glodeni pass. We begin the long, steady climb across the pass.
Once at the top, the trail continues left, to the southeast, then joins the forest road that descends into the Aninoasa Commune. Near the entrance to the village, we turn left, to the east, crossing a marshy area.

We return to the “Drumul Sondelor” which we cross to continue a path on a contour line that leads us to the road that descends to the Viforâta Monastery. From in front of the monastery, the route continues eastward, slightly ascending, after which we enter the islaz on a cart road, we leave a goat pen on the left side and climb a steep road, until the entrance to the forest. From the top of the islaz, we continue ascending southward, until the plateau of the Dealu Monastery.
We cross the plateau still to the south and enter a steeper downhill sector, which takes us to the asphalt on Valea Sasului, and from here to Târgoviște, on Aleea Mănăstirii.
