Bikeathon Țara Făgărașului is the main sporting event to raise funds for causes in the local community organized by the Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation. Through Bikeathon Țara Făgărașului we support the community's spirit of initiative, we support the causes we believe in and we combine the joy of doing good deeds with the benefits of sports in nature.

The fundraising mechanism proposed by Bikeathon Țara Făgărașului is developed around a cycling competition, open to individuals, companies and organizations.

Who can register for Bikeathon?
Any individual, professional or amateur cyclist, and representatives of companies or organizations (teams) can participate in the cycling competition, in any of the races:

BKT 70 - 71 km race
BKT 40 - 40 km race
BKT 20 - 22 km race
BKT 10 - 10 km popular race
BKT 4 - 4 km race in wheelchair or handbike

For the little ones, Bikeathon has some special challenges:
BKT 3 - 3-lap race around Făgăraș Fortress
BKT 2 - 2-lap race around Făgăraș Fortress
BKT 1 - race around Făgăraș Fortress

All races start from the center of Făgăraș municipality (Făgăraș Fortress) and cross the most beautiful landscapes of Țara Făgărașului.

Who can propose projects for funding within the Bikeathon?
Any organization from Țara Făgărașului or local initiative group can submit projects for funding within the Bikeathon. The selection procedure involves submitting a project proposal, its evaluation by a jury and the selection of the best projects for funding. The fundraising campaign for each project registered for the Bikeathon is a collaborative effort between the organization / initiative group proposing the project and the Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation.

The main sources of funding for the registered projects are:
1. participation fees paid by cyclists registered in the contest - 50\% of the cyclists' registration fee goes to the chosen cause and 50\% will go to the organizer to cover part of the costs of organizing the event;
2. Donations from supporters - not everyone has to pedal to do a good deed at Bikeathon; registered projects can also be financed through direct donations through the Bikeathon platform, without involving the donor's participation in the cycling competition. 95% of the support goes to the chosen cause and 5% of the support funds attracted by each project during the event goes to the organizer to cover part of the costs of organizing the event.

Project proposals are submitted online to the Țara Făgărașului Community Foundation, through the Bikeathon platform. Before submitting a project proposal, please consult the Project Regulations.

What is the impact of Bikeathon in the community?
Since 2014, through Bikeathon we have managed to mobilize 666,388 lei for 90 projects.
