Cheia MTB Challenge 2022
The Cheia MTB Challenge competition has a series of circuit-type routes, with the start and finish in the Cheia station, the start/finish taking place in the Câmpul Ardelii area and the package pick-up and award ceremony in the Sports Hall in Cheia.
The sixth edition of the XCM Cheia MTB Challenge competition awaits you with the most spectacular route in the Teleajen Valley area. The journey through the Tătaru and Ciucaș mountains will offer you an unforgettable experience, with challenging climbs, breathing areas, where you can admire the fairy-tale landscapes, but also high-speed descents.
The 2 mountains test (big test) will take place on Saturday (September 17, 2022), with the start taking place at 10:00. The route of the 2 mountains is 77 km long and the difference in level is almost 2555 meters. The route has two high points, the first in the Tataru Mountains near Crai Peak (1467 m) and the second highest point is in the Ciucaș Mountains, at 1640 m altitude, in Chirușca Mountain, near the Ciucaș Chalet. At the Boncuța Pass, more precisely, at the 37th kilometer of the route, the time limit will be 4 hours. The average time to complete the route is 5 hours. There will be refueling points along the entire route where you will find water, fruit, glucose and energy drinks. The time limit is 6 hours, in the conditions of a dry route, in exceptional cases the time limit will be extended or it will wait until the arrival of the last competitor.
