The start of the Baia Mare MTB Marathon will be on July 5, 2014, a cycling marathon that is expected to attract amateurs and professionals from different age categories.
The competition, the only one of its kind organized in Maramureș, is organized on several routes: hobby - 27 km, half marathon - 44 km and marathon - 87 km, the last two having a medium to high degree of difficulty. Also within the competition there is a Family Tour route, with a length of approximately 15 km, much more accessible than the others and which is intended to promote mountain biking among families, including children.
The novelty of the 2014 Baia Mare MTB Marathon is the replacement of certain parts of the route of previous editions so that it can be covered 100% by bicycle. The organizers hope that the decision will please the participants.
The route will depart from Brazi 2 Chalet in Izvoare resort, and the circuit is in a particularly beautiful mountain landscape, located on the volcanic plateau below Igniș peak. The chalet offers accommodation and dining options for those who wish.
The cycling marathon, now in its 8th edition, is organized by AS Club Sportiv Mad Snails Baia Mare, an association that aims to increase the number of people who practice cycling, promote cycling as a means of transportation and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
