Arad bike race

Arad Bike Race is a mountain biking competition open to all sports and nature lovers, taking place in the Zarand Mountains, starting from the commune of Şiria. Organized since 2012 by the "Racing Bike Pro - Arad" Sports Club, this year, "Arad Bike Race" will start on September 10 with four cycling competitions for all ages and will end with a mountain running competition, "Electric Marathon", on September 11, the event expecting a number of 400 registered participants.
On September 10, 2016, the commune of Șiria in Arad County will host the fourth edition of the "Arad Bike Race", the cycling competition dedicated to amateurs and professional athletes. The four competition events, Race, Marathon, Elite and MTB Kids, will satisfy all age categories, starting with children and ending with seniors, as follows:
RACE 33 Km: 15-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40+ male and female;
52 Km Marathon Race: 18-29, 30-39, 40+ male and female;
Elite 52 Km Race: 18+ male and female (only for FRC licensed professional athletes);
Kids MTB Race: Children 0-8 years old - individual milestone route and children 9-14 years old - circuit route, both taking place within the perimeter of the central park of Șiria commune.
The route for Race, Marathon and Elite will start from the center of Șiria commune, with a launch on the county road (approx. 500m), followed by the climb towards the fortress, on asphalt, then the road through the forest to Feredeu Monastery, the ridge route that descends towards Căsoaia, the valley area that passes behind the Agrișu Mare locality, with a small difference in level and a 150m section with an average slope of approx. 20% to the intersection of the fortress-Feredeu road. From here, the competitors registered for the 33 km tour will turn right and cover the remaining 7 km to the finish. The competitors on the long route, i.e. 52 km, will turn left and repeat this 19 km loop, after which they will also head towards the finish. The chosen route combines various types of soil, with different degrees of difficulty, but is also available to those who do not have a high level of training. Along the route, competitors will encounter two checkpoints and hydration points.
The sports competition will end with the award ceremony. Each participant who finishes the race will receive a finisher's diploma and a portion of goulash in a cauldron, as well as the opportunity to participate in the raffle that will bring the lucky winner a bicycle frame. The day will end with music and good cheer on the plateau of the "Charlie Bravo" Aerodrome, which also provides places for camping.
The 4th edition of the "Arad Bike Race" mountain biking competition is organized by the Racing Bike Pro Sports Club and the Arad County Cultural Center, with the support of the Șiria Commune City Hall.
