Mtb marathon north of moldova 5th edition

This year we will organize the fifth edition of this cycling event starting from the center of Hârlău, a city much loved by the rulers of Moldova, surrounded by high, well-forested hills and the vast vineyards of Cotnari, the golden liquor being known to everyone for over half a millennium.

There will be two routes: the short tour of approximately 30 km and the long tour of approximately 60 km. The routes will climb some of the highest hills in Moldova, separated from the Carpathian Mountains by the Siret meadow, namely the Balș - Holm hill and the Tudora - Vorona hill (around 600m altitude), sectioned by the springs of the Bahlui, the one that crosses the city of Iași further down. From the top of Balș the horizon opens wide to the east towards the plain of Moldova. These hills are so large that looking on the map from west to east to beyond the steppe of Kazakhstan in distant Asia, no form of relief can challenge their supremacy. These well-forested places represented a true refuge for the population of Moldova in times of hardship, and today they are secret places of worship, being an opportunity for reflection. The most famous are: Vorona Monastery, Voronei Monastery, Lacuri Monastery, Balș Hermitage, Oneaga Monastery, the stone cell of Saint Onufrie.

A good part of these wonderful places will be reached by the participants in the event organized by us, namely the Pro Natura Rarau association, the Activexplore.ro bicycle shop in Botoșani, DBL Design, the Hârlău city hall, the Deleni commune city hall, the Scobinți commune city hall on April 26, 2015, starting from the Saint George church, founded by Stephen the Great, located in the center of Hârlău.
